Business owners sir.

Perhaps, but there are plenty of W2 wage earners who make well over $200K.

We are talking about audit rates or otherwise the risk of someone not receiving a timely refund.

If what is reported to the IRS matches your return, there isn’t anything to audit. This conversation has nothing to do with how much you can make on W2

IF you made a contribution to a certain party, could be the reason.

Pay your taxes loser. We all do it. It keeps our military the best in the world. Don't be a whiny a-hole because you can't budget your finances.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's my dad and his business were audited 7 straight years. My dad was a good guy, but thank God my mom was an excellent bookkeeper and they always had a good CPA to make sure he stayed inside legal boundaries but took advantage of every legal loophole he could. Each year the government owed my dad a refund and I guess they decided to leave him alone after that and never audited him again.

His advice: never take every deduction you can take, but always know it's there and documented if you need it.

These things are always sold as “making the rich pay their fair share”, but it’s always the middle and working classes that they go after.

Mainly because the rich have high powered accounting firms to handle these notices and bitch slap the IRS all over the place. It’s even worse for the IRS if the firm didn’t make an aggressive tax play.

Spent the first few years of my career responding to the IRS for clients and worked them over pretty much every time.

So the answer is target those that don’t have the funds to have a firm handle them.

don't think those IRS agents have been hired yet. I think the IRS is fricking up returns somehow and using this as cover to delay them.
