Heather Cloud more than likely didn’t write that bill. I think Landry preyed on the dumb blondes in the legislature to get his shite filed and pushed thru, I’ve seen a lot from Cloud & Julie Emerson.

The LA Legislature is such a joke.

from Melinda Deslatte:

S&GA votes 6-2 for the broad public records exemption bill to shield most government documents from public access. Sen. Cloud says she's committed to "looking at narrowing it down" before taking it up on the Senate floor. SB482 heads to the full Senate. #lalege

Went to go tweet Mandie Landry and saw that she’s advocating against SB482 that restricts public records access to the Governor yet she voted yes for HB461 that restricts public access records to local & state governments.

Make it make sense.

Something something she's trying to protect LaToya

Impressed by him. Seems like one of the few actual conservatives in the legislature.

Also interesting to note that every single Democrat voted yes except for 3 who were absent.

Louisiana corruption is truly bipartisan.

Zurik and Nakamoto testify against the bill

quote:

Lee Zurik, a journalist for WVUE FOX 8 in New Orleans, told the Senate committee he files about 450 public records requests each year. Those records have fueled stories such as an investigative series on the collapse of New Orleans' Hard Rock Hotel, he said — stories that wouldn't have been written if the bill had been in effect.

“This isn’t about clearing up the law — this is about blocking the media, and more importantly, blocking your voters, your constituents, from records that they funded,” he said.

Things just got serious!

I didn't realize that there were also other bills targeting public records access.

SB432 which would change the law so that only Louisiana citizens may submit public information requests.

SB502 which is an ID law for records requests.

Can anyone think of any reason as to why this would be a good thing?

Encourage more candidates to run since they won't have to answer citizens pesky questions?

That’s great actually. We need higher profile people calling this out to create more outrage and attract attention. Our legislators fold like chairs when the heat is on them.

This is so pointless.

For the citizens and taxpayers, or for the politicians and their big campaign donors?

"will allow local government to declare any records confidential if they determine their public release “would have a detrimental effect” on an active business negotiation. It would also allow the company or person negotiating with the government to request confidentiality. "

So if there is an election, the Mayor can close the ballot voting numbers to the public, because he feels there will be unrest ?

So these Louisiana mafia democrats want to hide the business deals, kickbacks, cushy campaign contributions, trips, VOTING RECORDS…stuff that should be transparent to begin with…

frick these motherfricking bastard pieces of shite. I’m really hating this world right now and how can we ignore this overt corruption?

I’m sure you already know this because of the way Louisiana is, but lots of Republicans who run as conservatives and pro-Trump voting for this stuff too, and Governor Landry’s office ain’t testifying against it, from what I can see.

Even further, they're the ones who are submitting the bills in the first place.
