Navy leadership recommended Friday that Capt. Brett Crozier, the recently fired commanding officer of the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, be reinstated to his prior command.

The proposal is the result of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the former skipper’s dismissal approximately three weeks ago.

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michael Gilday and recently-appointed acting Navy Secretary James McPherson — who replaced former acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly after his tumultuous resignation — suggested Crozier be reinstated, according to information first obtained by the New York Times.

Keep on lowering those standards

We think we don't need any because we have such overwhelming advantages in tools, hope that remains the case

Pentagon responds to story and says SECDEF will “thoroughly review”.

Pentagon would not leak unless he was getting reinstated.

Who relieved him of command in the first place?

I’m assuming military people do that?

Am I wrong to think the military has gotten soft ( politically) in the last 10 years? I joined in 2000. Boot camp, the Idgaf from superiors, just do your job mentality without crying. Amazing a CO did they opposite of what your suppose to do and is getting rewarded with his job back. Crazy.

Do you remember when Obama admin decimated military senior leadership?

Now would be a good time for POTUS to take out the trash. Then repeat with intel agencies. Then repeat at State Dept.

This looks like bad PR face saving. It's a double edge sword. Positives and negatives abound. If the Brass feels it needs to reinstate Capt Crozier, I would assign him to another billet, and move on. No Admonitions or Reprimands, nothing.

So essentially our military commanders are now airing their concerns through leaks to the DimMedia, I guess Comey set that fine standard too. I guess that’s the way it’s done today.......we’re so fricked, this COVID19 virus is going to be a minor concern in the near future.

I went in around the same time. Yes,the military is getting softer in many ways. Some good. Some bad. But the old timers when I went in said that the military in 2000 was way softer than when they joined in the 70's and 80's

This is what happens when political hacks jump the gun and act before allowing military leaders to investigate and make recommendations.

Trust the people who have lived this life and led sailors and soldiers for more than 30 years.

With few exceptions, the military is pretty damned good at policing its own.
