I meant Specifically during the aids crises.
I always Read that a large portion of people didn’t care because it was a Gay/Black disease.

People need to keep in mind that in May, 1940, the Third Reich and the Soviet Union were on very good terms. This was during the Nazi-Soviet Pact.
At the time, the Leftists, Socialists and Communists in both France AND the USA were very favorably disposed towards the Soviet Union AND her allies. The Third Reich and the Soviet Union during the Nazi-Soviet Pact were indeed somewhat like allies.
As such, when the Third Reich attacked the Republic of France, the Frenchmen who were Leftists, Socialists and Communists were not horrified at the prospect that something bad might happen to their own National Govt of France. Why? Because, as Leftists, Socialists and Communists, they had spent a lot of time and energy agitation AGAINST this very same French Govt before 10 May 1940. These guys were not going to fight to the death for France against an ally of the Soviet Union.
And there were Fascist sympathizers in both France and Britain. French fascists were not going to fight to the death for the Republic of France against a German fascist Govt that some of them would later join to fight against the Soviets.
Now take a look at our many fellow countrymen here in the USA in this time of "soft" conflict with China. How many of them vocally support China and seem to be rooting against Trump's USA?
Observe. Analyze. Form your hypothesis. Test your hypothesis in light of further observation and analysis.
My conclusion: 2020 USA has a very dangerous Fifth Column right here working to support China to the detriment of Trump's USA.
