“Baton Rouge is one of the larger markets in the United States without professional soccer, and a USL club with men’s and women’s teams would be a tremendous addition to an already vibrant community and passionate sports town,” Justin Papadakis, United Soccer League Deputy CEO, said in a statement.

Speaking of which, has anyone heard anything new regarding the USL team in New Orleans? Felt like there hasn't been any news on that lately.

The proposal better include a substantial security budget and Kevlar kits.

Maybe St George can convince them to start a franchise here? Make all that land at Harveston/Bluebonnet a big multi use complex with a stadium for football, track and soccer and municipal offices for St George.

Don’t make the same mistake as Birmingham and put it downtown. Build a SSS in the burbs somewhere.

Last I heard they were looking for a main owner investor from the area but no one has stepped forward. People speculating they are waiting on Benson to make a move but doesn’t look likely. I’d be surprised if they have a team here.
