20 year anniversary trip

Wife and I are looking (we actually have one of the excellence resorts in Cancun booked, but have never been there) for somewhere this summer without the kids. My wife will fly, but hates the experience.
Anyone been to excellence in Cancun? We would honestly prefer somewhere in south Florida, or somewhere with a direct flight from New Orleans…

Excellence in Cancun is the best of the excellence resorts. Seaweed covered water though

Then I would just do that. Why do something when you'd rather do something else?
Fly into FLL and drive South. Stay a night in Ft Lauderdale, then stay a couple nights in Key Largo, then a couple in Islamorada, then a couple on Key West then do it in reverse with a couple nights in Marathon then a night or two in Miami then fly home.
Southwest has directs from MSY to FLL.

For south florida - check out Little Palm Island We went here for our 10 year anniversary and it was nothing short of amazing.
