So why does the board fight tooth and nail to make sure everyone on here knows what a complete utter failure Mandalorian and Grogu is despite it being a similar budget to MOTU but probably making 200 million more at the box office?
I don't know, you'd have to ask the folks actually arguing that, I'm not.

It apparently showed that Skeletor is really King Randor's older brother, Prince Keldor, which would help explain why he covets the throne of Eternia so badly.
yeah I think this would have helped

But it's certainly not getting another movie. It would probably go down as the biggest financial flop of the year
again, we may be judging the results from a dated lense.
If a streaming service spends 100-200mil on a streaming exclusive movie that gets good reviews, we consider it a success. The revenue model is just different now and pure box office numbers aren't the be all
5-10 years ago and it opened to these numbers, yeah I'd say it's dead like the Power Ranger reboot....but Amazon seems overall encouraged so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a sequel.
I was too young for the original run but He Man toys and the show in syndication were still going strong.
Also had a VHS of the first movie that got worn the frick out. Tried giving that a re-watch recently and other than Langela as Skeletor, it hasn't aged well.

with overpriced food
meh...their prices seem about in line with most places these days.
sounds like this won't be a second Willie's though, they made it sound like it'll be a different concept
wondering if they knew even investing heavily in marketing would have still brought back minimal ROI in this climate, so they cut costs there. The box office is just additional revenue but the true value is a franchise for the streaming service.
to your point, Noir costs a shite ton of money to make and no one seems to be batting an eye, had they strictly done a Prime release for MOTU, this is probably looked at as a huge success for them and not a financial flop

I don't really care he gambled
I don't care about any of the NCAA's rules.... but they're still the rules. Why bother having any?
It's one thing to play around with eligibility stuff because the NCAA opened that can of worms during COVID. I don't love that Chambliss is somehow still eligible, but it is what it is. This is an entirely different animal though. It's a known rule with no gray area at all.....don't bet. He did and has admitted guilt; he shouldn't be allowed to play.
The large majority of my memories of Sammy’s Highland are me driving past it wondering why the hell people were waiting in line to eat there
Not saying the food is bad but there’s nothing on that menu worth waiting 30 minutes to be seated for

Since it’s Amazon/MGM, I’d say it’s got a good shot. They need some franchises
Streaming and merch are factors that can help. Judging purely box office is probably no longer the way to go with many of these
I will say the marketing was weird for this. The movie clearly was done with a more cartoonish tone for kids but they didn’t really do in tie ins, push toys, etc to draw kids in. It was like they were purely relying on nostalgic parents to bring their kids vs. kid begging their parents to do
Mine were hooked after and I ordered some toys for them through Amazon, so I did my part to get a sequel

I mean during his initial attack at the start of the movie, they had no clue who he was.
Unless I’m just misinterpreting his line about lying in the shadows waiting/building

I get the earth stuff but could have cut that for fleshing out Skeletor a little more
I assumed going in he was an antagonist to eternia for years but apparently not

Took two of my boys today. They liked it
It was overall pretty well done. Didn’t take itself too seriously, maybe could have used more Skeletor

Crazy how one side says it’s woke crap and the other says misogynistic man splaining….sums up the current climate about right

Paying a premium for a raw talent like Haven is bad money.
You’re just paying to develop him for the inevitable second stop when he’s pissed because he’s not the starter as a RS fresh

I didn’t see, I wasn’t paying attention until I went back to look at Cobolli odds and saw she was down 3-0 in the 3rd

sabalenka :ahh:
Not to the casuals, general audiences like high stakes. Especially in a sport they largely ignored throughout the regular season

He-Man came from a time that didn't take itself so seriously.
As opposed to now where you still have culture warriors crying over some pronoun joke in the initial trailer. Everything is a battleground now.
This movie is in a tough spot, kids today have no connection to the IP and the nostalgic adults like myself are more likely to just catch it on streaming.
Kids today in general don’t seem to be into the action cartoons we grew up with in the 80s and 90s, they prefer the random content creators on YouTube.
For was serving to win that 4th set at -10000
