Skenes now has a splitter/sinker and it’s basically unhittable

Not sure when he developed it as I don’t remember him having it with LSU, but it’s nasty.

Might not have perfected that pitch and he was so dominant at LSU he really didn't need it

That's normal and healthy, and it's old school for pitchers to rely on heaters until they develop more before learning new pitches. It protects their arm more in the long term. Too many coaches abuse young pitchers these days like a rented mule to win games (teaching them these pitches too early), killing their long-term careers.

The splinker is nasty as hell and definitely didn’t exist in this form at LSU, if at all.

The movement on that sinker was crazy and then when you see that it was coming in at 96 made it even crazier.

I know it’s early but that was Mo Rivera level nastiness where he basically could tell everyone it was coming and there wouldn’t be much you can do about it.

Also my non scientific opinion is that Skenes is just built right to throw 100mph. He basically is built like an NFL tightend. 6’6” 250 with thick legs.
