The modest NIL bag now over the giant NFL bag waiting for him in a few years if he develops right at NFLSU. Dumb arse move the kid. We literally develop this position like none other. And now he might go to the ducks lol

Probably won't happen until coaches/schools decide not to play in that pool anymore. That may never happen until the toxicity of it starts to hit the locker rooms, and they can't live up to the hype and pressure because of it.

The team insecurity year after year due to kids moving around just doesn't seem sustainable. Perhaps KY being the "one and done" program kinda showed how bad it can be when coaches have zero control over their teams.

The approach Dabo might be taking may be what is needed. Right now it will hurt, if he has poor player development, but if this whole thing implodes he may be in a good place by not have introducing it. Time will tell, but I know I've moved on from the sport.

NCAA will not do a damn thing. They are the most useless organization in the history of competitive sports. This is the same organization that demanded a 6'4" man be given the NCAA Women's 200 m freestyle trophy over the 5'5" woman that tied him.

I can't wait for that organization to go under. They serve zero purpose in college athletics.

NCAA had their chance, and blew it!

Rather than try to figure something out that was fair to players and colleges, they stuck their head in the sand

The only way they could regulate it was to rule people ineligible for accepting it because it was never going to be possible to separate it from outright pay for play.

Then the government got involved and here we are.

Why do you think Saban quit
No way Bama would ever lose Downs the way they did to Ohio St if not for NIL
I think when Saban got wind of that going down he was out

Yep, sad reality. And I’m 100% for BK not being a highest bidder and selling the future gains. If the kids, see it come on down. If not, later.

I can’t get over how bad of the decision this could. Dude had a real chance to be a top 5 pick here. Not sure that happens at other schools being mentioned

It’s always been a money game. It’s just now in the open.

This. Bama was illegally paying players more than other programs for years. All of the “business decision,” “they negative recruited us,” “can never count Bama out,” “Nick gets who he wants” stuff was overstated. They were flat out paying kids more and benefiting from it. Does that mean that all of their signees were just after the money? No. However, money most certainly played a huge role in getting the #1 class several years in a row. This isn’t new. It’s just out in the open and quickly getting out of control.

Do it. See how that turns out.

Do what and see how what turns out? Players unionizing? Lolololol what would colleges be able to do about it? NFL prospects don’t actually “need” colleges. They “could” be drafted into the NFL right away. Woukd they start immediately? Probably not, but look at the huge signing contract baseball players get just to play a few years in the minor leagues. The NFL could be no different. Sign with a team, practice with said team for a few years, get a few in game reps here and there.. Trust me. If these top rated players unionized and decided as a group “We aren’t doing the bullshite college thing anymore. We want to be signed to the NFL immediately” the NFL would absolutely start signing them out of high school.

They won’t, can’t, shouldn’t and you shouldn’t want them to if you actually care about seeing top players play for your team. The players have ALL OF THE POWER HERE. If they ever realize that as a whole, college football will never get another “5 star player” or even most “high 4 star players” again. If they ever unionized they could force the NFL to draft them straight out of high school leaving colleges left with scrubs.

While people like you jump and cheer it on lol.

So the government ruled in favour of capitalism in a capitalistic country. Shocking!!!

Are you opposed to any other people being paid the market value for their skills? Maybe you should ask yourself what it is about this one particular case you have a problem with people being paid market value for their skills. You might learn something about yourself or see that the ONLY reason you are against it is for selfish reasons (in which case you have no leg to stand on and should be ignored). The excuse of “but muh team can’t compete” isn’t a reason to not let these players be paid.

You do realize that the numerous quotation marks in this post are completely unnecessary, right?

They were free to pursue their market value in all of the other leagues the free market had created for them, instead of voluntarily choosing to participate in the organization that had viable reasons not to allow pay for play, or the slippery slope of NIL.

Congress will have to pass legislation that will essentially give College athletics the legal authority to operate as a cartel so they can implement collective rules for NIL.
