Nacua

naming rookies who haven't played a down I don't count.

He’s about the exact middle of this group. Better than half but not the other.

He needs to finish his routes. If he can improve on that sky is the limit.
If he does what he did last season he will fall further down that list.

There are individuals on this board who think the guy is prime Jerry Rice. He’s bang average.

He's just butter soft and offers nada after the catch.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person in the fanbase who doesn’t think this

Don’t get me wrong, I like Olave. I just think all the talk about him being top 10-15 is totally insane

He isn’t good after the catch.
He doesn’t have elite level speed.
He doesn’t have that great of hands.
He’s injury prone.
He isn’t a contested catch player.
He isn’t physically imposing.
He’s had one game over 125 yards in two seasons. He’s never even had 10 catches in one game. He has literally never taken over a game for us.

He runs good routes; he might be a top 15-20 route runner.

I just don’t see how you can put all of this together and see top 10-15 at the position. I think he’s an amazing WR2. Like, the best WR2 in the league. But he’s not “#1 option” worthy.

Honestly if our fans think he is, then I hope they’re okay with paying him $30mil a year on his next contract because that’s what a “top 15” WR will demand

They’re desperate for a recent 1st rounder to pan out, thus the overstatement of Olave. Nothing more complicated than that. He’s the beneficiary of the obvious draft misses in Penning, Davenport, Turner etc.

14th in rec
17th in yds
82.5 pff rating

He's a really good wr. Why do you guys feel the need to run him down?

This.

Is there anyone else from the 2022 class you’d definitely take above him?

I honestly think Olave is near the bottom of this list. We don’t know about the rookies yet, but most of the other guys are better than Olave.

I don't know what tier I would put him in out of all those guys I just rattled off the ones who I know who are better than him.

There are some other names on that list who I think have a lot of credibility for what they've done over their career as opposed to how they are actually playing now.

all things considered; he was taken 11th overall.

He's better than Drake London (8th), similar tier to Garrett Wilson (10th), better than Jameson Williams (12th), Jahan Dotson (16th), Treylon Burks (18th), and every other WR taken.

In a "deep draft" for WRs, we arguably got the best one. The issue lays with fricking Penning (still).

Now, kudos to this front office for at least finding Shaheed, because he's put up better #s than half the WRs in the 1st round (dotson, williams, burks) and most of the drafted guys so far.

It’s 10x worse on saints twitter. People get feral mad if you suggest he’s anything less than an elite number 1 (hes a solid 2 and thats fine) diabolical.

Garrett Wilson is better. Olave is in a pretty good tier but I’m also taking Tee Higgins over him

So far, he has not. He's still all potential.
