Never took me more than 5 minutes to find a job.

Don't do it mate it took me 20 months to recover fully.

Back at the same company now that the director I hated got fired and everybody respects me for telling her off, but it was so not worth it.

Sure did.

Couldn't find another job to save my life. Started a business to get through for a while. 36 years later still have my business. Worked out better than I could have dreamed.

I don’t believe you. You did have other jobs lined up.

And it was between gags.

No. My anxiety over not knowing when my next check is coming would far out-weigh how much I hated my current job.

I've had the same job since graduating from college in 1997.

Exactly! Office Space that shite! Or get a remote job and do it while you’re supposed to be doing current job. Bam! 2 incomes.

No but I want to.

My dad did this years ago. He was miserable and quit his job even with my mom and two siblings and I in the picture. I don't know the complete details of how things went down, but he found a job in like a month after he quit so it worked fine.

Once. Bad in the short run. Best thing in the long run. I wouldn’t advise it if it’s possible to have something lined up. In my case I needed not only to quit but move, so lining up something local would not have helped.

Once, I was fresh out of the military, had a cushy job will going to school. Let my emotions get the better of me, and quit. Ended up working as a night auditor on the weekends, at a hotel. Zero social life! One of my top 5 things I wish I had a do over. Ride around on a golf cart, showing people where their camping spot is on the lake, then collecting unemployment during the off season---vs. checking in trannys with a 5 oclock shadow and dealing with Talladega fans from out of State.

Yes. Had all I could take of the stress and people. Was in my late 30s. Wife worked low paying job. Had a small child and a mortgage. Worked a couple jobs. Then went to votech training for year and worked 40 hours in retail for the insurance. Got a good job in a plant. Retired after 25 years.

Yep.
Wouldn’t recommend usually but was best decision I ever made.
Lead me to start my own company.

shite, that may have saved you. NA is shitty (based on /r/talesfromthefrontdesk), but vets that get to go out on weekend nights until 0400 seem to be far more damaged in the end.

If it makes you feel any better... Tranny shite going on at night, whatevs for the most part. Watching 6' dudes with wigs, stubble, dresses, and heels eat breakfast on a Sunday at a Farriott in Leeds (UK) was ... well, I had to ask the concierge where actual women went so I could people watch, and I sort of got a shrug.

You're giving a great example of how to teach younguns how to analyze their options so they don't jump from the frying pan into the fire. I did it recently over the age of 40, and I'm fine with an aneurism. I never trust the company I'm quitting (usually with reason) and trust the company I'm moving to too much. The amount of lies I've gotten about consulting pipelines are absolutely astounding.

Not since I started working professional jobs. Quit a few jobs on the spot, that were only meant to be temporary anyway, with nothing lined up. Those didn't affect me.

More than once, and the world didn’t end, but it makes compensation negotiations a bit tricky.
