Quarterback Myles Brennan announced Thursday that he is removing his name from the NCAA transfer portal and will remain at LSU.

Brennan, a senior from Long Beach, Miss., was LSU's starting quarterback in 2020 but suffered a season-ending lower-body injury in Week 3 vs. Missouri.

He was getting ready to compete for the starting spot this past season but broke his non-throwing arm during a freak accident when he fell during a fishing trip just before LSU's fall camp was set to begin.

He announced in November his intentions to enter the transfer portal but now the loyal Tiger is staying in Baton Rouge.

The news means that LSU is currently heading into next year with three scholarship quarterbacks: Brennan, freshman Garrett Nussmeier, and Walker Howard.

It's is unknown at the moment whether or not Brennan will play in the Texas Bowl as the Tigers are still figuring out who will start at the position vs. Kansas State due to Nussmeier's redshirt concerns.

Update: It's been reported that Brennan will not play in the Texas Bowl.

I don't think it's being stated enough...this kid has been dogged by a lot of "fans" for YEARS, had multiple opportunities/reasons to transfer and chose to stick it out. I'm not going to pretend to know everything that's gone on but it appears to me that he has more character and integrity in his left pinky toe than a ton of kids have in their whole selves. Hopefully a lot of the underclassmen will look at the fortitude displayed and take note. Myles should be 18 in '22.

Boom! Wrap that man in bubble wrap, only allow him to walk in proper footwear and have someone carry his fishing supplies for him at all times!

When Max Johnson entered the portal and his brother de-committed, I hoped Myles Brennan would rethink his position and return. All Brennan needs is game experience, in much the same way Joe Burrow did when he left Ohio State in his first year in Purple and Gold. Brennan has the arm talent. If Kelly can get the offensive line to provide protection, Brennan can flourish. Now, we need Boutte healthy and in uniform next season. Besh will light it up with Boutte taking the top off defenses, now that Brennan’s arm is under center.

I have high hopes for the guy. The games he did play in 2020, we were only in because of the passing game. We lost games scoring 34 and 41 points.

Definition of a true Tiger. We're blessed he came back. Think he goes off next year. He deserves it too. Thanks Myles. Eli Ricks can take some mother fricking notes.

Whatever negativity people want to put out there about his decision to come home, I remember this man getting beat up as a brave freshman thrown into action. I also remember him supporting and standing by Joe Burrow. And I remember wondering what could have been if he hadn’t been injured when his time finally came. He is a Tiger. The world would not be right if he finished his eligibility somewhere else.

This needed to happen especially if we need Boutte to stay put.
