In defense of Nuss, it’s his 1st year to start. He’s 8 games in. See burrow and Jayden. Year 1 is learning, growing, developing. Year 2 is… heisman

The LSU vs A&M was lost by lack of preparation by our coaching staff. Offensive plays in the third quarter were exactly what A&M was waiting for … runs up the middle and passes to the sidelines. Sloan and Hankton should be ashamed of the plays sent in to Nuss. Poor Nuss took a beating.
Defensive play was good until the read option was employed by Reed. We had no answer on how to play against that offense until the game was almost over. Shame on Blake Baker and CBK.
Let’s hope someone corrects the mess we all saw Saturday.

“Coach—who is responsible for the defensive collapse in the second half?”

"We need to coach better" - something we heard for a DOZEN YEARS. Still waiting.

Never seen this side of Nuss. When he got shook, he started making real bad decisions. If that is all it takes to make our offense nonproductive, we are in trouble.

IOW, he's Jarrett Lee.

No comparison, man. Dumb arse recycling of a horrible comparison.

LSU got shook and then just lost all fight. We just did not have the ability to overcome a few bad plays and just laid down.
user avatar
jptiger20096 months
They didn't lay down. Great point was them waking up and stopping aTm from scoring a TD late.

Lsu got outcoached (BK and Baker). aTm went with a completely different scheme, and it worked. That's it.

1) wtf is the deal with the snapper and the holder? Everytime Ramos tried to kick the ball its either misplaced, he's kicking laces, or hell the ball hits the holder in the face and he just slowly and casually reacts to it.

2) if Dellinger was out in the second half, and we were using a backup left guard, why did Sloan keep calling fricken inside zone runs? Watching that maddeng. Why not run a sweep or just use Durham for check downs in the passing game...like in the first half.

3) Greg Penn said they were not really game planned for Reed? Reed has started for TAMU and the qb situation there was very shaky before the game, how did CBK and CBB not have a plan in case they brought Reed in? That is the ultimate failure, even with Nuss giving them short fields on 3 occasions.

They could have started running the defense they ran against Ole Miss and their QB Dart. Have Weeks spy on him and try to contain the long runs. They ran this defense 2 weeks ago, should have been able to adjust to it in the second half.

We were out coached. We were not prepared for the zone read. We got complacent in the first half, because we controlled the first half. We went into the locker room thinking we would make minor adjustments and blow them away in the second half. Before half, we had a minute to drive and score. We let the clock run out. Coaching absence of urgency in the first half was not apparent to the casual observer. We lost, primarily, due to coaching, which impacts player execution.

I don’t think I have ever seen CBK exhibit urgency. Coach O & Coach Miles may have ruined the program, but at least they showed some passion and urgency.

What did Miles or O having a sense of urgency do for the program? Improvements are definitely needed for next season.

LSU lost 31-6 in the 2nd half and were beat by a second string QB. Thanks defense. Way to not tackle the Texas AM QB.

That is not the players fault. It's the coaches. They did not game plan in case Reed came in, which is insane since everyone in the country knew Weigman was 1 bad half away from maybe being yanked. CBB and CBK failed by not having an alternate scheme in place in case Reed came in.

No! These men are making too much money to not be expected to step up and play. Our team was crap in the 2nd half. Three interceptions, all sorts of mental mistakes. That's on them.

They’re still just kids that wanna win. Don’t put the whole ‘money’ thing on them. They make money because WE are fanatical about football and invest in it. Same with coaches. You can criticize their decision-making, but they make the money they make because WE are fanatics. Money is not a reason for expectations in sports. If we as fans didn’t care a thing about sports, they’d still be playing and coaching for less because they love it.

The Press never asks BK any questions. BK specialty OL/TE..coach why is run blockimg so bad? Scheme, players or RBs? Simple question. Why when middle of the field is wide open, why do ypu never have the TE sit in the middle as a safty blanket for Nuss? Why do we run the same 2 plays in the RZ run up the middle for no yards knowing the C/G are your weak spots? Simple questions and i will wait for an answer BK?

Dude, I wanted to scream when I kept watching that damn inside zone run into a wall. Dellinger was out in the 2nd half and we kept running right I to the middle, fricken hell. Sloan makes some good calls but a lot of times I just sit there and shake my head by of his calls. I'm not a football genius, but I do know that if we're already weak in the middle and now our starting left guard is out perhaps we should not run it up the middle. Perhaps we should try some counters, or sweeps, or off tackle, or just throw the damn ball.

The offensive play calling from Sloan has been a joke all season though. It's Nuss making poor decisions but it's also Sloan setting him up for failure. LSU was killing them over the middle and it disappeared for most of the third quarter.
