At this point, if all the major sports just stopped holding all-star games, would anyone care? The whole idea feels as antiquated as printed magazines or late night talk shows.

Right! Sure, name who would have been All-Stars, Pro Bowlers, All Pro, etc... Give them a nice little ring, watch, or trophy to commemorate their achievement, but give the "games" a rest.
