Seeing some of the astronomy pictures on the OT has me wanting to learn more about astronomy. This is something that has interested me for some time, but when I go to amazon, I can't tell what books are primarily for kids or ones that would be better for adults. Any amateur astronomers out there? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

See if your area has an astronomy society. They are normally amateur (and some professional) astronomers who love nothing more than sharing their love of the hobby.

This is the one near me Pontchartrain Astronomy Society.
