Yes, its an easy way to keep track of what you have read, what you want to read, and it gives recommendations based on those choices as well.
Its great for keeping track of where you are in a series. "Have I read book 5 yet? " etc

Yeah, just mark a book as "Currently Reading", the "finished" and GR tracks a few stats for you.
