5000K bulbs will likely look like crap and you don't want to have to replace the bulbs a second time
LOL the wife is on a kick to have me replace every frigging 3000K soft white bulb in the house with 5000K daylight bulbs.

She thinks the warmer yellowish bulbs look 1980's trashy.

Happy spouse, happy house I guess.

I too think 3000K has too much yellow. I have found the light actually produced by the bulbs seldom matches the pictures. 5000K is too white and often has a blue tint.
Ideally I would like to duplicate the light "color" of GE Reveal incandescent bulbs. It's an idealistic goal as the GE Reveal LED bulbs don't match the incandescent light (too yellow in side by side comparisons )
My target range is 3800-4500 with variances based on actual light emitted by the bulb.
And don't mix brands or types as the color of the light will probably not match. In my kitchen I have recessed LED lights with the perfect light color but the pendant lights over the island having the same Kelvin number are whiter (with mild blue tint) because of different bulb style and brand.
