Questions for former football season ticket holders.

I have had season tickets for 26 years and I am strongly considering giving them up. I know everyone says this but it just isn't the same anymore. I still love going to the games but I find I am not as excited to go as I used to be. Sure that is partly that I am older but the tailgate and gameday experience isn't what it used to be either. More and more every year the cost just doesn't justify the experience outside of 2 maybe 3 games. For those who have given up your tickets did you regret it later?

We gave up our tickets in 2019 after 42 years. Even though it was in the best season ever, we still did not regret it. Mainly the same reasons you cited: game day experience, lack of parking, traffic, much more enjoyable watching on our TV. We still go to a couple of out of town games a year and enjoy those. Other than missing a chance for tickets to the natty, no regrets.

Sorry to say, no regrets.
I've had tickets my whole life (had kid tickets as a teen, then tickets on 35 x 25+ years). Its not just the cost. Now I've got weekends free again. Stub hub ain't cheap, but I can get as many tickets together as needed. (I'd rather spring for 2-3 games w/ multiple people than a whole season w 2) Easier to justify away games.
Finally, I went from not leaving until the last second, rain or shine; to leaving at half. Probably better to step aside and let more committed fans stay for the whole game.

Well I went to all home games this year….. Definitely different…..50% of seats filled was the Most I saw….. probably aTm….

Gave mine up in 2018 for same reasons as others have posted. Had mine since 95. Had family tickets before that.
For me to go to games, it’s a flight and hotel—but that was a fixed cost for me that I knew about going in.
What killed it for me was the entire experience just not being as enjoyable. Just became a complete (and expensive) beating.
ETA: zero regrets. In fact, I’m thrilled about it.

Gave up mine last year after 26 years. Didn’t miss the hassle. Went to a couple of games that made me think I made the right decision. I was tired of the culture of the program and told the athletic dept when they called trying to give me an extension to pay.
Im excited about the future, but now i know I can enjoy just as much watching at home or with friends.

My family did the same after the 2019 season for many of the same reasons you gave. I don't regret it at all. Overall, it's just not worth it anymore. Tickets are always available if you want them. The game day atmosphere isn't what it was and every year LSU seems to come up with more restrictions that make it even worse.

No regrets at all. Gave mine up in 2020 after 25 great years. Game day experience wasn’t worth the hassle anymore. Crappy piped in music, horrible concessions and post game traffic are now in my past. It’s great having my weekends back. I do miss the big games but the horrendous non sec games are not worth my time anymore. I travel more now to away games and I would rather spend my time and money doing this.

No regrets here. We're in Michigan but flew down for most home games. We gave ours up in 2020 but only because our grandson is now playing tackle football on Saturdays. Don't want to miss those games.
What's different, is we can jump back in whenever we want and besides keeping the seats that you have (and maybe some TAF points), there is literally zero advantage to holding on to tickets that you may not use as much for a few years.

I had tickets handed down to me from my father. Had them close to 40 yrs, then saw the same thing you are seeing. Absolutely no regrets

Yes it’s sad. We need new blood on the sidelines. The end zones carry the noise. It seems like LSU would figure this shite out.

Plus, I’ve always been able to find tickets to the game.
The big diff is if you are playing a #1 bama at home or your in the national title because those are expensive in the secondary market.
Playoff tickets were easy to get.

I have had my season tickets for 40 years. I drive 5 hours each way for home games. I am still in and will stay in. I have faith that things will turn around soon with CBK and that we will go back to normal pre-COVID life.

Lol, I’m in my 30s and gave up my season tickets before I turned 30.
With neutral games and cupcakes on your home schedule it wasn’t worth paying $200 a ticket. Which is what I was paying with Taff fees.
When you get a season like 2011, you are spreading that fee out over 6 games and not seven. And you might have only had 1 or 2 games you could even make your money back on. The rest you can’t give away.

CFB is changing and it isn't going back. I still have 2 tickets but sold them last season. I have MBB and baseball season tickets as well. I prefer the baseball games now. I have a parking permit right next to the Box and can be in my seats from the parking lot in 5 minutes.
My 14 yr old son wants to keep going to football so I am probably going to keep as long as he wants to go. Once he is done I will give them up.

I had season tickets basically my whole life, gave them up, and felt tremendous relief. No regrets, I probably held onto them too long. It's just a natural function of age for many of us-it just becomes a bit much, particularly if your wife is a great cook, you have a Pimp tv and your couch is comfortable. You can always buy tickets if you get a game jones. The stadium needs that new blood, anyhow.
