Logically , this is a sign they’re heading towards price controls.
Our system has a lot of inherent structural problems, one of which is the way it promotes short term thinking.
You can understand price controls are a bad idea and don’t work, and still enact them.

And eventually wage controls. People forget that the modern day “benefits” package at work started when FDR controlled wages to prevent inflation. Companies then started offering things that weren’t controlled.
