I was talking to friends at work this week about the blue states dropping mandates and lockdowns and we came to two conclusions. The Dems are either worried sick about the midterms because the large majority of the public have lost faith in them or they hope to get another surge of sickness this summer so they can get approval on emergency ballot access rules like mass mail in voting in places they dont already have it. Either way they can improve from where they are now.
However, if any of you were around in 93 when Bill Clinton beat Bush I you will remember "its the economy, stupid." Dems are going to have a hard time running away from that.
