Why would she risk losing everything for a murderer? If he doesn't turn on her and kill her, she's getting fired along with going to jail and losing her pension in the process. What is she gaining by running away with this guy?

The only explanation I can think of is that was her story (lie) she told people at the jail before she left.
“I’m going to drive this inmate to the courthouse. Don’t worry a couple of other deputies are also accompanying us. Then I’m going to the doctor after
I drop the inmate and the other deputies off at the courthouse.
I won’t be back for a few hours. Also, the inmate is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, so that’s also going to take several hours. Don’t expect either one of us back until late this afternoon. “

It appears, according to reports, the deputy did help facilitate the escape. She supposedly turned in her retirement papers on Thursday and had recently liquidated some of her assets.
Unfortunately, this info comes from a Facebook post by a small-time media outlet, so take it for what it’s worth. We will see if it is accurate.
