It’s unfortunate but it looks like his development has peaked. Not sure what he improved on since he got on the team.

Oh, but he is.

Black hole on offense and his on-ball defense is not that great, but he makes up for it with hustle.

and you'll have a hard time finding much better in the G League.

No one knows one way or the other because I guarantee neither of us have watched a G-League game, but I'm sure there is some shooter out there toiling away because he can't do anything else. I would take that over what Naji provides.

I thought Naji played well down the stretch when he kind of adjusted his approach. Curious to see after his stint in SL this year if history repeats itself and he comes into the season thinking a little to highly of himself again, or if he settles back into the role he played late in the season. I don’t think he’s a rotational guy regardless, but Naji that knows his place is a much better player than the Naji that doesn’t.

I remember when there was a good month or two when pels fans were convinced he was as good as Josh Hart

We don't need to worry about him and Billy being that good unless injuries start stacking up. They are end of the bench guys who bring good vibes and are here for the culture.

One problem I have with Naji is that when he attacks the basket, you know he isn’t passing it out. Ever. When he goes at the basket, he’s shooting. If he can see the floor while also attacking he will have a much clearer path for looks and the offense opens up for better shots as a result.

Why the hell would he defer to Dearon Seaborn and John Petty in summer league?

Maybe the staff is calling plays to see what some other people can do? It doesn’t matter at all if these games are won.

That’s an extreme take. He still has value at the end of the bench.

-Good Locker room guy and his teammates love him.
-cheap contract
-Versatile since he can play multiple positions
-Can defend and hustle
-knows his role and isn’t going to complain
-he generally doesn’t go crazy in the regular season the way we’re seeing him in SL.

That’s not a bad end of the bench guy to have especially since he’s still only 24.

Pels started cratering as soon as Naji began playing iso-ball. A couple possessions of him taking it inside against a loaded paint or bricking a 3 killed the offense and quickly got caused the lead to evaporate. After giving up the lead, everyone else started playing hero-ball and we got smoked.

This doesn't mean anything if he's a net negative at every position he plays.

His defense is not that good, it just looks good on TV because he makes hustle plays, but his footwork in a halfcourt is mediocre at best.

Playing ISO ball is not knowing your role.

What specific aspects of the game do you see him progressing over these next few years?

He’s like a 12-15th guy off the bench. He’s only going to play when we have injuries. You act like he’s going to be in the rotation on most nights. He’s not and will be a cheerleader for the majority if not the entire season.

It’s odd how much people hate Naji. Dude is an end of bench player but he really gets people upset. He’s barely going to see any meaningful time. Not sure why he raises the blood sugar if everybody on this board.

Especially considering hes embraced his role as a bench guy and seems like a great teammate.

I would rather have a long athletic big or knock down shooter on the roster instead. Naji is a good guy but give piece that is usable more than he is

Pretty sure every team would like to replace their 12th man with a knockdown shooter.

Again, people think you're going to find net positive players as your 11th and 12th dudes on the bench.

If there's a net positive player out there in G League or wherever that you think can replace Naji, some other team will actually have them in their regular rotation.

You seem to be extrapolating Summer League Naji to regular season Naji. He was 10th on our team in FGA per 36, not exactly a chucker like is being insinuated.

He's perfectly fine as the last 1 or 2 dudes at the end of the bench.

Again, if there's a knockdown shooter out there, why would we get him as the 12th guy on the bench when another team can put him in their rotation?
