Factually wrong. She was arrested on Feb 17. Russia invaded on Feb 24.

She had nothing good to say about this country when she was living and playing basketball here. Let her see what a racist and homophobic country is like while she does her time.

She should do her sentence to show support for Ukraine.

I don’t care if Russia just wanted a bag of flour in exchange. No deal.

Never said I thought the sentence was just. You asked where all the hatred came from.

I didn't ask where the hatred is coming from, are you mixing me up with someone else?

Always makes me laugh when people say how racist and homophobic the US allegedly is. Africa and Europe are far, far worse than the US will ever be in terms of both.

No it’s not. She and I use that term loosely broke their laws and guess what she is now going to have to do the time. That is until taterhead trades her for a terrorist and an 3rd round draft pick.

But I'm pretty sure that Russian law allows for the amount of weed Griner had on her, which has been quoted as 0.7 grams. Up to 6 grams is decriminalized. The Russians are definitely politically motivated in this specific case.

The 17th isn't before the 24th?

This is an honest question, does Russia have other prisoners locked up for 10 years for having a gram of marijuana?

I didn't see crazy4lsu response before I posted. I seriously doubt they have Russian citizens locked up like the way she is.

Young? She's 31 years old. If you don't know the difference between right and wrong by then you get what you deserve.

The Russians do prosecute people who have less than 6 grams, and have done it before in politically-motivated circumstances. The people here who are giddy are honestly super weird.

She's an athlete, that's not an excuse but she has been pandered to her whole life. It's the ultimate example of FAFO. I really don't care what happens to her but it's all politically motivated

She admitted to committing the crime. Now she should do the time. She's an idiot for transporting contraband into Russia. Why are we trying to free her? What about all the millions in jail in this country for possession and similarly innocuous crimes? Shouldn't they get out first?

Mark my words...

"The very day that she steps foot back on US soil and is Free again, she will claim that: 'The only reason that the USA didn't try harder to help her get back is because she is black."

Bank on it.

Then you agree that the Russians are prosecuting her in a politically motivated fashion, as even going by the amount she brought in with her, she would have deprivation of liberty for up to two years (Article 233). What people aren't seeming to understand that the length of the prison sentence is definitely politically motivated, unless the Russians regard 0.7 grams of hash oil as '10 times the one-time dose,' which is the definition they use to define large-scale drug amounts.
