And, it only takes one turd to screw up the punch bowl. - Johnson’s arm health concerns didn’t warrant the risk in an early round,7 figure slot, but the kid may in fact end up getting 7 figures before it’s all over if a team wants to roll the dice. 1 out of 30 is not that hard to fathom.

THAT’S the risk we’re gonna end up facing before August 1st, and if you are really in the know as much as you want us to believe, you know this too.

I'm only telling you of what is possible, and it only takes one team

????? da frick? Do you think I dont know this?

You ALWAYS have leverage, because of the threat to go to school. And, again, it only takes one team.

You don't always have leverage. You have leverage when you are a commodity, and you a commodity when someone feels your price tag matches your talent.

if he signs at this point, it will because a team has residual money left over and they can come to an agreement on a price that is clearly lower than what Johnson wanted.

what do you think he has leverage on?

The more rounds go by, the more budget is lost. You can't leverage teams for money they don't have dude.

quote:

Speaking of context, would you care to research why only a few players signed for over a million after round 10 last year?

I research the signing bonuses every single year. You clearly do not or you'd understand that pattern more than "Carter young signed for $1.3 in the 17th round!!!11.

quote:

So you told me I don't know what I'm talking about,

You told me this first, so frick off.

He had come back from the injury and looked good. I don't doubt that it could still be in the back of teams' minds, but I'd think his number is probably pretty high so teams are going to try working some gymnastics along the way instead of just coughing it right up.

I think you should know it, but you acted like you didn't.

If you don't think he's a commodity, simply because he hasn't been taken yet, or that he isn't, simply because he doesn't GET taken, then you are ignorant of this process.

quote:

It WOULD be a team with money left over, as I have already pointed out, but no, it would not necessarily be for less than he wanted. Because if it were for less than he wanted, why would he sign? You think his agent isn't aware of what teams are willing to pay, and will just let him sit there and let him fall in the draft, where the numbers of teams left who can pay him dwindles down?

quote:

I research the signing bonuses every single year. You clearly do not or you'd understand that pattern more than "Carter young signed for $1.3 in the 17th round!!!11.

Carter Young was an easy example. You want me to list every single player to make the point? Get over yourself.

I didn't say any such thing. There a difference in explaining something that you think someone else might not understand, and basically telling them they're an idiot. I don't conflate ignorance with stupidity, except in cases of willful ignorance.

Definitely more of a theme than usual, it seems.

and the unwillingness to give that money is probably tied to the injury and not being able to see him as much due to it, is it not?

Nope.

I know, sorry. I should have known better than to think I could have a civil conversation with the one person who I don't think has ever been civil with me.

Cam Johnson is getting all the talk, but I'm definitely getting hopeful about the majority of our class getting to campus.

I know exactly what I'm talking about, and you really haven't said anything that went against what I'm saying. You just want to hammer home your own perspective of why you think he's falling. The truth is we are both speculating. But to say he has little leverage is something I do not agree with, for the reasons I've already outlined. You're arguing with a wall just to be right. So have at it.

I'm done with this waste of time.
