I guess they aren't used to having so many, that they don't realize how few they are ever going to see. Especially when they don't have much to sell their program on, other than "Well, we stay relevant".

But to say he has little leverage is something I do not agree with,

What is his leverage pitch to a team with a finite amount of money that has already made numerous picks on a planed spending budget

It’s either going to be enough for him, or it’s not. There’s nothing he can do to leverage more money if they don’t have it.

Everyone has a finite amount of money, otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion. Everyone has a limit of what they will be willing to pay anyone, no matter how much money they have to spend. And he may well ask for more than anyone is willing to give. But if we're talking about a team that has saved to make a run at later high upside guys, they can't just give him next to nothing, considering he can go to school if they don't give him a fair offer.

But he may have completely priced himself out, and if so, that's a choice he would have made with an intention of going to college. And that's a good thing for us, if true.

I'm kind of shocked to see Dugas picked there, but glad to see him get his shot.

Yea, that’s not leverage.

Leverage is a verb for a reason

When you have no options, you have no leverage. The option to go to school is leverage against any team wanting to sign him. That is literally how leverage works.

Besides the Mariners, could we get an updated lost of teams that I have to cringe every time they are on the clock?

ETA: They just drafted Cooper Pratt. Was slated as a 2nd round type guy. That will take some extra cash there.

No, that’s called an option, not leverage. You got one thing right.

At this point in the draft he does not have the leverage to use that to his favor to get more money. He simply has that option to fall back on. You are totally misusing the application.
