Great thread! Hopefully we can keep this one going. If people only realized… but to each his own. I’ll never suggest that someone get into something that they don’t understand or aren’t comfortable with, for risk aversion or other reasons. But I do encourage people to try to learn more about the overall options markets. Much of what happens in the equity markets is at least somewhat related to what happens in the options markets… like yesterday.
Maybe thatguy777 will see this one and chime in too. I like that he typically goes long, while I’m typically short options, and often we’ve both made money on the same underlyings with the same expirations (just different strikes). I also believe Frogtown and a couple of other guys are active options traders.
Here are some of the ones I’ve currently got on (all shorts):
AAPL 9/16 160 calls
NVDA 9/16 127 puts
AMD 9/23 97/73 strangle
AMD 10/21 115 calls
AMZN 10/21 99 puts
SQ 9/23 93/62 strangle
TSLA 10/21 416.67/186.67 strangle
IBM 10/7 120 puts
PAG 10/21 130 calls
MO 9/30 49/39 strangle
MO 10/7 39 puts
LAC 9/16 22.5 puts
LAC 10/21 22.5 puts
BP 9/16 34.5 calls
BP 10/21 35 calls
KMI 9/16 19/17 strangle
CHPT 9/16 13.5 puts
LICY 10/21 6 puts
ARCC 9/16 18 puts
RUN 9/16 25 puts

I'm back to selling 0DTE spreads on SPX. The daily IV on the 0DTE has been elevated, making for some decent opportunities. I've been entering positions after lunch, and using basic technicals as support for the positions. It has worked well recently, and has returned a decent chunk.

I’m interested in learning about options trading. I know almost nothing now but I’ve read that covered calls of stocks you already own are a good place to start. What do the experts recommend for starting the learning process?
I’d like to get this thread started again with what people are doing close to real time.
