Trying out a Cruzr Archon and a predator xl platform. Not sure I'm gonna stick with it.

TX5 Lonestar

Tried most of the saddles out there and it’s easily my favorite.

Why not use just the climber?

Is there a model specifically suited for a hunter with a slim waist? I’m built more like a sheep hunter than the average SE deer hunter.

Weight and it’s just faster…. I know it sounds crazy but it works. Whole climber weighs 28lbs full kit and the saddle with hand climber top weighs 7lbs. I’m a climber guy and at my camp I use a sit and climb wide….. when I’m walking a line way on public, I use the saddle.

Saddlehunter.com forum can narrow it down. I went through several before I found one that was right for me. Only advice I can give is, if you’re gonna sit all day, buy a two panel saddle.

Overwatch Transformer

One sticking up, rappel down with
Shikar Mini w/ Harken Cam Cleat and full bury amsteel
Sterling Canyon C-IV
Madrock Safegaurd
3 step Ultimaider
Ultimaider Pack n Play

Sounds like a lot, but it really isn't.

I currently use a cruzr xc. I have a buzzard roost on the way to test out a 2 panel and see if it’s more comfortable. I also use a trophy line wingman to one stick with.

Gotcha. Didn't know if you were using the bottom or top as a hybrid type set up. I guess if you have a tree with a bunch of limbs you can tether off and move the platform over then keep climbing?

I'm currently using the Latitude Method. I like it a lot, but I haven't run anything else. I use the predator platform and 4 trophy line mini sticks sometimes with an aider and sometimes without.

Just had this come in and it's made climbing a hell of a lot easier. Instead of a prussik knot it has one that can easily be tightened/loosened with one hand. Climbed with it Friday and it was so much easier than a prussik plus took up a lot less space in my pack since it's 5 mm cord.

Featherlite Lineman's Rope

My biggest gripe with the whole saddle thing so far is how much more involved it is than a lock on. It'll probably get better with practice, though. I have the platform/sticks attached to a frame pack and walk in the the saddle in the pack. I usually walk anywhere from a half to a mile. Wearing the saddle in sucks. Once I get to the tree I have to take the pack off and get the saddle on plus sticks/platform hung from it before climbing. Still taking me 15 to 20 minutes from when I get to the tree to knocking an arrow. With my Lonewolf hand climber or M7 it took me 5 to 10 minutes.

Been looking for one like this. I have my own makeshift I've been running, but this is going to help a lot

Like the other guy said - Saddles or more popular when you need to hike in a mile or two, midwestern states have huge public land pieces but no vehicles.

You can put the platform and 3 to 4 sticks on a backpack and barely know it's there.

Plus, once you use them a while it's pretty quick to set up or move if needed

I was asking about how he's using a modified lone wolf climber in tandem with a saddle instead of sticks. I have a lone wolf climber so I was curious how he worked with it.

The hand climber is just a seat with no rails, super light. There are videos on YouTube on how to modify it and it works great. Johnny Palmer and Perry Fraze Outdoors have videos on it. If I get in a tree with a low limb I carry a single step strap, unhook the climber top and go over it. Does it limit tree selection? Yes….. for me it’s worth it. I also Repel down when I’m ready, super easy.
