I have no doubt that he would be gone if he is convicted

Oy vei… I’m not aware of any history like this with Beard so no one’s fault really. Except for his own of course!

Sucks for the team, but maybe they can keep it together with an interim this year anyway.

Idk. UT reeeaaallllyyyy doesnt want to fire him. My money is on he is he is gone for the rest of the year, they pay the victim, and hes back next Thanksgiving

There's no way Texas keeps him if this case goes through with a conviction.

Texas doesn’t do that. They are a huge, transparent-than-most athletic department (just due to politics) in the middle of a huge liberal city.

There is a below zero chance he stays if true.

I can’t see UT keeping him after that

If he choked out a family member (wife, kid) you’re past the point of a booster simply paying someone off. I think some of you aren’t really grasping the severity of it

yeah it's pretty comical. beard is 100% done if he choked out a family member.

I think most people agree with that. We are just waiting on details.

He's winning at a high level and has Texas looking like an annual Final Four/National Champ contender. Texas doesn't want to fire a guy with that kind of on court success. It would be no different than if Kirby Smart were arrested on such charges. The schools would at least explore a way to keep him.

I'm not saying that is "right" or that Texas SHOULD keep him. But you're naïve if you don't think highly successful people don't get more leeway that unsuccessful or marginally successful people. I think Texas would at least have an internal conversation as to how willing they would be to absorb a big PR hit for a time in order to keep him. Perhaps map out a lengthy suspension and order to go to some sort of rehab that they think will get them past the negative PR. Something to show the world they are serious about the wrongdoing, but enough to keep him around.

If he were a HC who struggled to make the NCAAT every year I would agree with the 100% prediction that he is out. But given his level of success (at TTU and what he appears to be building at UT), I don't think it is a 100% probability just yet.

He choked the bf of his daughter after he walked in seeing him choking her.

If that story is true, no prosecutor is bringing charges. He will have to do some on-campus damage control, though.

If that story is true then he isn’t getting fired and likely will only miss a game or two.

Now question is did that really happen or did a Texas booster say so with some money and some logical discussion with the wife or child.

Its whats on UT boards. Dont see why he would have gotten a family violence charge on that as the SO of a child isn't considered a family member and its my understanding that his adult daughters dont live with him

There is no way anyone pays for this to go away in today’s day and age. UT and that booster would be sued to high heaven
