My house is 20+ years old. I had it wired for cable TV and used satellite until i started streaming a few years ago. did not have the foresight to wire for ethernet.

I do have coax running from the area right by the modem and have just installed a mesh system (2 story house). I'm getting fairly good speeds upstairs but was wondering if there is a way to use the coax cables to establish a point upstairs? is that just stupid? was thinking there might be an adapting connector but have no idea if the signal works w/ coax. sorry for my dumbassery in advance

It's the same technology that cable/satellite boxes use to talk to each other when there is a central unit.

Yeah the MoCA adapters create an ethenet bridge across the coax. It's similar to how powerline adapters create an ethernet bridge across your elecrical outlets. That's another option too but coax works better usually.

I’m using MoCa with a mesh WiFi system. I have the router connected to the node through coax with MoCa adapters. It allows me to use all 3 channels of my tri-band WiFi 6 setup. I have AT&T fiber at my house.

I’ve been happy with it so far

I just set this up at my house last week using the Actiontech 2.5-2.5 version of the adapters mentioned earlier so I could use my gigabit internet speed in my upstairs office. Set up was just plug it in & got 900mbs up/down right away.
