There was one study that showed every reader they tested was roughly 30-40% off. Basically just ignore them. Their only relevance is subjective to the individual person. If every workout you normally see it say you burned ~300 calories and then one day it says you burned ~400 then you know you did more. You have ZERO clue what the actual number is…only that you did more than you normally do.

Just eat under your maintenance with consumed calories in whatever form. Consider exercise just a bonus. Exercise is horrible for losing weight on the scale, it is great for overall cardiovascular health.
