Lafayette Baw, Dirk Guidry does them.
Imagine NOLA legend Frenchy does it (doubt he is cheap)

We did it at ours. Wife loves it. I couldn't care less. We flooded a couple years ago. Haven't hung anything on any walls since we've returned. Couldn't tell you where it is now

All I remember from my wedding is the money dance and that those funds paid half my beer bill in the cruise.

our thoughts were, pay for something that will last a lifetime or do nothing

95% of live paintings aren't worth it IMO

Had one done several years ago at a party we threw for my mother. First time I ever heard or saw this done. Guy was pretty incredible and it reflected different things throughout the night.

No. But my nephew had a harpist for the pre-ceremony and meal.

She played Led Zepplin / classic rock and metal and it was awesome!

Classy. Especially the corner where Barbara Bush and the drunk groomsman are hauling the Miller High Life’s down the street in the Yeti on wheels…

I attended a wedding with a painter 3 or 4 years ago. The painting was nice, except that the faces in the painting held little resemblance to the actual bride and groom.

If you didn't know who the people were supposed to be, you'd think it was a nice painting.

Same here. Alex is awesome, and we love ours!

ETA: Alex's is not the super realistic vibe. It's done with really thick acrylic, and more of a artsy vibe which we preferred. So you have to know the style you want.

I have seen a few at different weddings over the years. Some I have seen do a genuinely good job and have talent. The end product looks great and the couple is really happy with it. A few others I have seen look very half assed, most of the scene is painted prior to the reception starting, and they half arse paint a few people on the dance floor. We didn't opt for one at our wedding mostly because we got married in Dallas and the ones we had seen in Dallas previously all sucked.
