How much is Derek Carr worth for a contract and how much would the saints be willing to bid for him

FYI, I’m not sure this is a subject that has been considered by the people who post on this board, so it may take some time for posters to reply

I think he likely gets 3/90m when he finally signs. Just a hunch.

Nick Underhill was on the radio this morning saying that Carr hasn't signed yet because nobody is offering the $35 mil/year asking price. He will likely get $25-30 mil/year

Not saying Nick is wrong, but Carr and his team did say he was not planning on signing right away and wanted to take several visits then weight his options.

Would not need to take several visits if he was getting offered what he wanted.

Jets guaranteed he'd be a HOF'er if he went to New York, so I guess you start there.

You could say this means the same thing Underhill said. If nobody is offering what you're looking for you will talk to several teams and weigh your options.

I think it's very likely that this is what is happening, I just wouldn't read into it especially since teams can't talk to Lamar (I think he gets tagged), Jimmy G, Daniel Jones... yet. His leverage is not as great as he may think, because there are a handful of QBs that many people would consider int he same tier as Carr

But, you can't rule out the possibility that a team has offered him what he's asking for, but he still wants to try to leverage that offer to see if he can get more from a different team or force the original team to match a higher offer

crazy if we give him more than 25. Now if we front load 2 years and void the rest, i can live with a little more up front to ensure we dont get stuck if it doesn't work out.

if we sign Carr, we need a really solid draft to fill holes to make any noise in the next 2 years - young starting Safety, RB, TE, WR, DT.

Not really, that would have his contract as the 13th highest average. Then you add Lamar, Burrow extension and it's down to 15th. And, add in Jimmy G & Daniel Jones to the mix and that puts $25M in the 15-17 range.

FYI, $30M would have him tied with Matt Ryan in the 13-15 range after Lamar & Burrow get theirs done.

That’s pretty much what I said he would get. A team may get desperate and he gets 30. They all agreed on the radio if yiu can sign him for around 25 a year, that’s a great deal for him.
