Someone survives doing that once let alone the number of times Reed has done it. Just so many ways for shite to go wrong

Reed is particularly adept at putting himself into situations that appear more dangerous than they are at the time. He can ride the edge like no one else. It helps that he's done it tens of thousands of times, and that he seems to have a sixth sense about tornadic storms. He doesn't really panic despite the excitement he shows, and he always has an out.

The problem is that the "Monkey see, monkey do" kicks in and many others start believing they have the same skill and experience.

OU Guy...

Get Val on the getner... for the win.

What a storm. My home and family are ok.. I hate these things. I am sitting high and dry on Texoma right now..

I was there for that May 3rd 1999 monster. I rode it out about 1/4 mile away at a vet clinic, with the dogs and cats, and only 1 steel door between us... I wanted to see it but told myself: "If you open that door, it may be the last thing that you ever do.". I left it shut...

The tornado debris signature path of the Shawnee tornado. Not good to see for sure.

Bad news I just saw:

—-

The McClain County Sheriff’s Office PIO confirmed there has been one fatality in Cole after a tornado ripped through. The next of kin has been notified.

Absolutely horrible news.

——

Oklahoma military has been activated for the tornado in Shawnee, OK.

——-

At least one person dead, possibly more in the town of #Cole

Homes & businesses destroyed, roads closed. More than 18,000 without power.

Responders searching & assessing the situation. People trapped & injured.

Tornado hit Shawnee tonight. Damage in Val & Amy's shot is from OBU. Please keep those impacted from tonight's storms in your thoughts & prayers.

I’m afraid this will go higher. Shawnee happened in dark and has yet to get reports out and confirmed.

Latest report from @News9: Sad news from Cole, OK. Now 2 confirmed fatalities and dozens of injuries, with search and rescue still ongoing. Mentions that homes were "flattened" (take that with a grain of salt at night at this point).

Well that’s not terrifying or anything like that…

Is that a Fujiwhara effect with 2 tornadoes?

Here’s a 1:45 drone clip of Cole tornado damage at first light. That was a powerful one! 2 died in this one, but at least 12 tornados dropped last night and damage still being assessed.

Man, that first picture is wild. Total devastation right next to, what appears to be, a completely untouched home.

Maybe, kind of. What we had was a setup that favored splitting supercells. The chance for deviant motion with those type storms is much higher. Couple that with a cyclical supercell that is going through the process faster than normal and you have a storm that is trying to split, but the newly-formed meso takes over too quickly for the split to happen. The new meso forms, the old one (and the original tor) fricks off northward at a rapid pace, and the new meso pulls the storm back together. What made this storm extraordinary was how many times it was able to efficiently go through that process.

The primary and secondary mesos (and possible tornadoes) could play off of each other similar to a fujiwara effect, but not necessarily that. It is going to be very interesting to see the actual tracks of these plotted out and how often that storm had two tors down at once.

Also, it was refreshing to see that no chasers were rolled by this one, because it was certainly a dangerous storm capable of doing just that. Maybe they learned some lessons.
