What do you want your high-end watch to look like? Do you have anything in mind, other than it be expensive?
If you give us an idea of what you are looking for, then perhaps a budget find can be made.

The replies have been huge helpful to narrow down some places and brands... looking at the ones mentioned, Seiko, Stowa, Hamilton, etc...

$1000 watches aren’t high end or expensive…but they can get you style you’re looking for, if you’re attracted to something more heirloom or expensive. Look at enough nice ones and you can cobble together something in the $1000 range that gets you down that road. Here’s my daily wearer.
I save my nice strap for occasions and put it on a NATO. Just ordered a new one yesterday.
