Yea, I pay $30 at Webb, but the golf stops once my ball is on the putting surface.

If you think Webb is representative of all Baton Rouge golf, then there's your problem. (Also, the most expensive tee time at Webb right now with a cart is $23 on the weekends.) If I'm paying under $30 on a Saturday for a full round with a cart, I'm just happy if there's grass on the property.
Just played The Island on Saturday and the greens were perfect despite punching 2 weeks ago. Clark is also in fantastic shape and a steal right now, but it sounds like the word has gotten out.

fwiw, I'd be all for paying more at places like Webb and City Park if it meant that they'd make course improvements, better maintenance, and probably green renovations as well.

Come play at Fennwood in Zachary. Greens and course are in great shape. Yes it’s a nine hole course but has two sets of tees that changes the way holes play. Won’t be disappointed Can’t beat it for $40
