What it takes to succeed at the college level isn’t always the same as the NFL. Daniels’ development has also been hampered by coaching changes and COVID. This will be the first time he has a second year with the same OC and a stable supporting cast on offense.

CBK hasn’t had a great track record with developing QB’s, this isn’t the “gotcha” argument that you think it is

I’m not arguing. I’m saying you are an absolute fricking moron if you feel that our head coach is incompetent (which was inferred by your previous posts on this thread).

I think CBK made a huge mistake by allowing JD to come back this year and unlike everyone else on this board, I think we should be allowed to question his decisions. I hope that JD has improved passing the ball, but if he doesn’t then I hope CBK isn’t afraid to bench him for Nuss

Five years and several different Coaches has not been sufficient.
Maybe we should bring back Ensminger and that staff. Turned a "Backup bench sitter" into a Heisman, Best Ever, in two seasons.

Jayden Daniels being sacked 43 times last year was an atrocious stat. Surely he and the coaching staff are working to improve this. IMO Daniels and Nussmeyer are fairly close in talent level, but for different reasons. They both bring different talents and they both have shown some erraticism.

If to be judged on passing alone, Daniels would not be the starter imo. Daniels is very good at running the ball. This is the direction the coach has chosen to go. Not my preference. But the Tigers can win with both qbs.

I only hope that if they are losing a game because of qb play, the coach is not slow to give the other qb a try. That would be disappointing.

We lost 3 out of the 4 games cause of JD5. Maybe he can work on his 6 yard slant route passes, also try to throw it more than 8 yards down the field this year to trim the losses down to 2 to 3! We’ll see what the 5th year senior can do this year.

the first few games, JD isn’t pushing the ball down the field, will CBK bench him for Nuss?

As long as LSU is winning with JD then Kelly will start JD

Kelly is a good coach and his first season did a great job losing only 4 games. Opposing defenses had a hard time containing JD, the guy can scramble. With this said my believe deep down is Kelly does not have the offensive philosophy of say Kiffen and never will.

This is not a bad take on Kelly to realize he uses JD as a running threat, damn good running threat. Nuss is more of a passing threat, Kelly prefers to control the ball. JD is a valuable running threat that throws the ball decent.

Why? Isn't competition good?

I think BK has earned our trust.
If Daniels has progressed to seeing the field and can throw receivers open, he could be the guy we hope he is. If not he will probably be passed up before the season is over.

That’s really a misleading stat. Daniels lost 195 yards on those 43 sacks. By comparison, LSU sacked opponents 29 times for 193 yards. A lot of Daniels’ sacks were 1 or 2 yard losses when he was buying time or decided to tuck the ball late and didn’t quite make it back to the line. Those weren’t materially worse than incompletions. It was probably more like 26 traditional sacks.

I’m not sure if I can sit through another year of watching screens and slants all game every game

for yardage lost, that is a fair comment. But when it translates to drive/series killing plays because of failure to complete, or even attempt to complete the called pass play because of inefficiency, it still seems excessive and my guess is the coaching staff thinks the same thing, but maybe not.

What? “Allowing” him to return?

I honestly can’t remember another time when some people were so upset about a quarterback returning. It’s really weird how much it really bothers some people.

Voicing criticism is one thing. Saying this is something else.

Then don’t. Easy fix.

I threw a couple of coins at JD for heisman at +2000 back in April. Didn’t realize my boy was 2nd at +1000 now

That’s absolutely wrong. Special teams mistakes and the defense not being able to get FSU off the field on 3rd down lost that game. 40+ points surrendered lost the Tennessee and Georgia games. The A&M loss was a team effort. Daniels didn’t play great, but the defense was even worse.
