Looks like the resident tankie has chimed in and that’s a big no on the link. Al Michaels interviewed Tretiak at the Olympics in Sochi asked him about the game and Tretiak said nothing about the flu. Seems like something he might mention when asked why he was pulled. The coach may have gone to the hospital the day before for flu but not the team.

And no ABC news did not spoil the game

His speech before the Finland game may have been better than the one against the Soviets lol.

They would have received the wire services report (AP/UPI) which goes worldwide.

No national broadcasts reported it, nor did my local newscast.

And?

Even in 1980 results spread rapidly.Not sure I knew anyone who wasn't aware of the news before the tape delay.
