Don't entertain that loser. He has nothing other than a shipload of logical fallacies to offer, his favorite being the appeal to authority - "Well if he's bad then why do the Saints roster him? Are you an NFL coach? Hurrrrr durrrrr."

Apparently you can't have opinions on players unless you have "skins on the wall" as he so eloquently put it before incorrectly correcting my already correct grammar.

He’s fine enough and on par with all the other backups in the league. No other team has a backup QB as their starters equal lol.

But some here think we can do MUCH better but for some reason we aren’t. And I’ve tried to ask them why but the keep running. So I don’t know.

Doesn’t mean he isn’t a viable backup somewhere like he is us. I mean the coaches choose him over Dalton because I think he has a positive energy the players and coaches like.
He would find a team.

I was told we are the only nfl yeam that wants him

let some injuries start happening... hell, the Bears are in a bit of a situation at backup QB, with PJ Walker not really panning out like they hoped...

i'm not saying Winston has a ton of value, right now, but i'm just saying for some teams he's a clear upgrade to what they have at backup QB and if they are forced to go to their backup, they may look for a better option at that time

I think Dalton left for a better opportunity to play. And I think it had more to do with the cap. Daltons contract woukd have been all new money against the cap, whereas Winston was already on the books and was counting against the cap whether we cut him or not. Very doubtful they picked Winston over Dalton.

If Carr goes down our only hope is if Haener comes 2nd

Hey Tack, this is a message board. The comments here are all subjective and opinionated. There are some that we don’t agree with. The nature of the game.

Back to the Bucs or falcons. He’s good enough to start for either of them but not good enough to really hurt us. 4D chess.

Winston is a fantastic backup: can play well enough to keep the offense at least treading water, not a toxic influence, and has plenty of experience. If Winston was starter quality the Saints don't bring in a talent like Carr. This isn't a situation where the Saints have two really good QBs.

he's washed, we'd never win anything of consequence with him at this point, and the fact that he would be available if we ever actually need him = just cut him, and if Carr gets hurt, re sign him

Haener’s *style* of play looks like Drew Brees - not just a height comparison here. Sharp with zip on short and intermediate throws, hits receivers in stride, appears to be seeing field without panic. Even his body language after a bad play seems eager, controlled and optimistic (like Drew).

I root for Jameis but his wind up and lumbering motion just remind me of Aaron Brooks. Maybe he doesn’t have timing down with 3rd string receivers who weren’t getting open but man did he look tentative to me.

I would not expose Haener on the practice squad - better protect him with roster spot.

I don't know if he is a loser. I'd say a mediocre troll. He did some bites.

This is maybe the only place on the internet that didn’t think Winston looked solid last night. He is going to be probably the most quality backup in the league this year. It’s like most of you have never watched football before. I don’t get it.

ETA: I mean, I know y’all have watched football because a lot of great tales are buried in the bullshite posting, but the “anti-Winston no matter what he looks like” stuff is confusing since the dude has been nothing but a class act and solid QB since he got here.

Guess it’s because we all saw him throw into triple coverage several times with balls that should have been intercepted. And a bunch of times he had a ton of time to throw the ball but didn’t get rid of it.

I don’t have an issue with him being the backup this year. We’d be screwed if Carr gets hurt either way. I dont think he’s close to being the best. I’ve said multiple times I’d take Dalton over him. Probably quite a few others including Bridgewater.

Here’s an outsiders opinion on the best.

The very article you just linked has him 5, which is pretty close to being the best, and an argument can easily be made that with the players we have he would play the best out of the ones ahead of him.
