2003-2007 was pretty damn good.
2010-2012 was pretty good too. I remember in 2012 we had a bunch of Washington fans come to our tailgate and that was a pretty special tailgate.

Back in the late 40s when we started mid-day Thursday for a Saturday night game.

The only reason I’m not staying the mid-90’s is because the technology was behind - meaning, most tailgates had trouble with having TVs (if at all) for other games, music was hit or miss. LSU was improving with some big players / recruits (Faulk, Mealey, Tyler, Booty, Banks), but still had that underdog mentality.
But, for the technology reason, the early 2000s….2000-2003, specifically were the best. The program was on the uptick, the momentum was there, the fans were juiced, and the university, largely, left us alone.

1992 was when I got there…but we didn’t have enough money to tailgate…I mean our own tailgate (we strung together parents’ setups though). Seems like something you do after college.

been setting up and tailgating for 20+ years. Tailgating died when ole Joe Aleva shut down the Nichloson corridor because people where having to walk in the road to avoid all the people on the sidewalk along the Railroad tracks. they also started charging to park on the interior of campus, with the stupid permits for trailers. i usually get to campus at 5Am , and here is the truth. Tailgating is dead. if you think anything more than that you are too young to know better. at 10am this past week, i counted about 6 tailgates in the old front nine free parking......6, what a fricking joke. Tailgating is WORK, and older groups gave up with the rule changes and 4k Tv's at home. newer groups don't have the work ethic to stick to it. shopping, organizing, setting up, cooking, tearing down. Damn you Joe Aleva.

My student years and I'm probably biased but 2003 was damn good. For whatever reason, after the Florida loss, I felt like fans really came together for the auburn and Arkansas games and the place was rocking.

I would say it is pretty good now with technology etc., but the early- mid 80’s were awesome. We’d park in the grass over by the track stadium off of Nicholson. My old man had one of those conversion vans with a TV in it. You could spin it around and watch an early game (local broadcast only). The smell of bourbon and kids throwing footballs, the pre-game was on the radio so about half the parking lot had the radio on the same station. Then the other 1/2 had fun music going.
It wasn’t as much of a production as it is now, it was a bit simpler. But the fundamentals were there … booze, food, and football.
I still tailgate over in that vicinity - a little closer on the concrete. It costs almost as much as my season tickets now. My old man won’t come anymore … he prefers a/c and 4K HD TV. But it’s fun.

2003 - 2012 although from 2010 to 2012 they started with some changes to cut down on tailgating with trailer fees and parking. But after that many just gave up after 2012 season.

Yup, 2007 Arkansas, despite the frigid temps and outcome of the game was pretty awesome as well. All sorts of hogs were being smoked or slow-roasted over open charcoal.
2011 Arkansas was also fun for us but the whole tailgate vibe had begun shifting downward for several years by then.

Late 60's. Everybody was chill. Not the zoo it is now. Was a time when you went to cheer the team, not to be seen at the game and go home at half time. We never left even if we were crushing our opponent. 70's were cool also. But it seemed when they added the uppers, things got out of control like parking, concessions and most of all traffic. Had state troopers directing traffic and even showing you where to park and boy scouts escorting you to the seats. Last game I went to was the LSU/Ala when Hurts pulled it out late, and the only reason why because I won two free tickets.
