Why didn't LSU go for two when the score was 26-25?

Early in the game. Didn’t need it.

Analytics probably.

Kick the PAT and score another TD, score would be 34-25.. 9 points, 2 possession game.

Fail the two point conversion and score another TD, score would be 33.25... 8 points, 1 possession game.

Can you imagine if we’d missed it and only been up 2 instead of 3 just before the pick 6?

That’s why.

Take the guaranteed points unless you HAVE to gamble.

You have to be careful chasing points until you actually need them
It can backfire

Go back and watch Saban crap the bed going for 2 multiple times last year against LSU. Cost him big time when he didn’t covert either one. Their last FG could have won it instead of tie it. It’s a bad call when you don’t need to do it.

Going for two is a sign of desperation. That early in the game, we weren’t desperate.
