I caught this on a highlight and not live and l think it's positive.

Our defense this year obviously is horrible for so many reasons. Above all else they don't seem to be animated or pissed off. They just get run over and hang their heads. They don't even seem to get mad at each other which is very concerning. Total lack of emotion period. But.......

When Mizzou scored that rush TD when our DLine was busy pointing at the Mizzou linemen for flinching out his stance, Major Burns had grabbed the RB right around the one yard line around the hips. Burns was still attempting to hold him out of the end zone. The RB then slipped his grasp and plowed into Zy Alexanders #24 and scored. Zy didn't even put any effort into stopping him. He just let him run through him. After the play Burns shoved Zy in the chest and was visibly pissed off as he shouted something in Zys face. IMHO that split second when Burns had the RB around his hips Zy could have cracked him or thudded into him and possibly kept him from scoring. But he didn't. That is the issue with this defense. The fact that someone (Burns) finally got pissed off and got in his teammates face about it kinda is a good sign. You never give up on a play. You never know what could happen. Would Zy have pushed the RB backwards at the goalline? Maybe...maybe not. The fact of the matter is he chose to put in no effort and got ran through. Burns seemed to let him have it. This small glimmer of emotion and frustration is positive. Some of these Defensive players especially the DBs need to wake up and get their s*** together! This defense is finally showing some emotion and getting after each other for lack of effort. That's exactly what we need moving forward.
