I’d imagine it would be hard to scout future unknown opponents in comparison to known conference teams that you play regularly and know years in advance.

Although, this could be Michigan trying to rid themselves of Harbaugh. This would be cause to fire him and pay little compared to what they oew him

What year is it?

2019?

Why would Michigan be looking to get rid of harbaugh in 2023?

Upon basic analysis of Connor Stalions Venmo he sure does have a lot of people paying him back for “t-shirt” orders

I was about to post this. Maybe he is selling Michigan swag that the team gave him to make up for the tickets.

If those are UM burner accounts funneling him money and his account isn't set to private... Just

Does the casual fan even care about this? I just assume all programs are cheating to some extent.

it was made illegal in 1994 due to smaller schools that didn't have the funding/resources to scout future opponents complained, and the NCAA made it a rule that no one could do it

so yeah. it wasn't always illegal

If Harbaugh would have cooperated with the NCAA and not lied about it, and not told them to frick off by self-inflicting a reduced suspension that the NCAA already rejected, this would be a non-story.

I don’t think the issue is sign stealing. Every team does that or at least attempts to. This issue is an organized, sophisticated (I use that word loosely) effort to steal signs. No one gives a damn about stealing signs during a game, it’s the sending of a staffer to dozens of games around the conference to collect video intel of teams signals. He certainly wasn’t doing it of his own volition either.

you're right, the staffer was at UM games. he bought tickets to other games of UM's opponents, and other people (fans/scouts/videographers) recorded the coaches' sidelines to try and decipher their hand signals

since no paid UM employee/staffer went to these games, there's no rule that was broken.

as an auburn fan you should know that. i mean, when it was determined that cam newton's dad's bank account had $180k in it when Cam was looking for a team to play, the NCAA said that Cam wasn't guilty, because it wasn't able to be proved that Cam knew about it

Cam was eligible to play that week, and everybody moved on. this is a few levels below that

Did Michigan team personnel receive these video?

Did Michigan personnel use these videos?

Why was this guy running this operation and standing behind the Defensive Coordinator as he was signaling the defensive calls?

They were talking about wanting his laptop last week. I wonder if it accidentally got run over by a truck before they could get it.

If this guy used his Michigan.edu email (and that's exactly something this cat would seem to do), it doesn't matter.

And Michigan's AD already stated they were fully cooperating.

It's very likely they have those videos.

I remember when Bob Davie sent someone to spy on Mississippi State and got caught. Tulane ended up get sued for close to a million when they fired the guy he sent.

edit from NYT

Tulane Sued by 'Spy' A former football assistant at Tulane has filed a damage suit against the university, charging that his superiors told him to spy on a Mississippi State practice last year and then dismissed him after he was caught. The suit, which seeks $988,000 in damages, was filed in state court in New Orleans by

if I, as a fan, buy tickets to a game and record the coaches' sideline w/ my phone and post it on youtube, and it's available to the public, who cares?

I just was some consistency.

Pete Thamel is a douche. He should not be allowed to report on college sports.
