Semi automatic rifles have been around for 100 years. Crazy people have been around far longer. Why are these mass shootings a recent phenomenon? Perhaps 24 hour news coverage and social media. Go look at the correlation and timeline.

Probably doesn't have anything to do with it. But I could see it causing someone that lived there to snap.

You hate to see it-- muh Second Amendment. Perhaps the second needs to itself be amended.

Events Lishe this scream fir gun control, but what is the alternative?

I’ve come to the conclusion that the government (police) can no longer protect us. There is too many criminals on the streets and without the threat of guns these people would be in our homes. Our gun rights keep a lot if the thugs at a distance.

We need our guns for personal protection, if the thugs have automatic weapons then we need the same.

Horrible. But where did the 22 come from? Usually deaths lag and are not over estimated

CNN stating this morning they were given the information from a Lewiston Council Member who said possibly up to 22 deaths. I guess to make ratings increase, news agencies decided to broadcast all night 22 deaths.

How do you feel about someone who is diagnosed with Schizophrenia and publicly threatens to shoot up a government facility?

I'm with you on the vagueries of the term "severely mentally ill" but certain personality disorders that often predispose a person to violence could be identified as a red flag. The biggest issue, though, is confidentiality. That would be the rub, ultimately.

It’s usually a crime to publicly threaten to shoot up some location, terroristic threats or such. Had he been prosecuted and jailed, he wouldn’t have had access to a gun. If he was a threat to himself or others, he could have been involuntarily committed for treatment, also without access to a gun.

I understand that taking a position that the government should not be able to take away an individual’s guns could result in situations where innocents might be hurt or killed. The alternative of giving the government power to take away guns leads to the disarming of persons who would otherwise be able to defend themselves against aggressors or a tyrannical government, also resulting in loss of life.

In my opinion, the best balance would be achieved by encouraging all citizens to carry and be prepared to defend themselves and others. If the first reaction to a would be mass shooter was the immediate return of fire by the closest responsible citizen, loss of life would be minimized and future shooters discouraged.

These events just fuel the ignorant ghouls to peddle their uneducated and outright dishonest talking points. Right on cue, here you are being ignorant and dishonest.

Laughable and never happening. You'll join Dianne Feinstein in going to your grave never seeing such nonsense realized.

Haven’t read entire thread..

Is the Robert Card on the Pedo list with a birth date just a day and year off just a coincidence?

I have seen in multiple places that there are 2 Robert Cards.

The shooter isn't the one on the sex offender list.

Such a weak, scared response to avoid addressing the actual issue.

True, but high capacity assault rifles in the hands of every weak-wristed sissy is a pretty recent phenomenon.

The hairline for the 2 images below matches pretty well if you flip one of the images. One of them (probably the booking photo) is probably mirrored.

By definition, an AR15 is not an assault rifle

Robert Card no longer a person of interest. He is now a suspect and there are arrest warrants for murder.
