I'd predicted in the other thread that they'd solve the "lost fortune" problem within the next episode, but I didn't foresee the awesome twist that would throw their house into a different type of uproar.

I pretty much sniffed this one out when Rev. Forte died and Oscar lost the nest egg in about the same episode. Julian Fellowes combined the storyline of Matthew's unexpected inheritance saves Downton Abbey and Edith's estate agent unexpectedly becomes the new Marquis in one fell New York swoop.

It's a dance he does well, but the choreography is showing on this one. Still enjoying it as I say, but this season has been a lot more predictable and much less compelling. Hoping season 3 can rebound a bit in the freshness aspect. Hopefully they will glean a bit more from Edith Wharton and give us a bit more grounded reality from social handcuffs and a bit less Disney wishcasting.

Weird that HBO promoted S2 E8 as the "series finale."

Also weird that S3 isn't greenlit yet given that S2 was announced before S1 finished airing.

Let's hope it's only the Warner Bros-Discovery hype gnomes doing work. Would hate to see this cancelled.

That might just be a little Cross-Atlantic "crosstalk". In the UK they refer to seasons as "series". In the UK this would be Series 2 not Season 2. Notice that in the last sentence of the image they refer to the second season finale. But all is possible, and I hope it continues.

I hope it continues, too, but it's weird that S2 E8 tied up so many plot points without much suspense for a new season.

I worry about the quality HBO shows with the Discovery idiot running the show. I get the feeling they tied things up in case it doesn't get renewed.

If they can it, probably going to get a Sister Wives in the Guilded Age instead.

That Bannister moment was great!

Enjoyed the season, but they move too quickly through plot points and storylines in my opinion.

”We’re so proud of what Julian Fellowes and ‘The Gilded Age’ family have achieved. From the costumes to the production design and performances, the show has captivated so many week after week. Along with our partners at Universal Television, we are thrilled to continue this grand tale for a third season,” said Francesca Orsi HBO Programming EVP and head of HBO Drama Series and Films.

Great news. The way they ended this season it was hard not to envision them continuing for a third. We are going to get the Julian Fellowes version of the Consuelo Vanderbilt marriage, which Belle has mentioned already. It didn't start or end well in real life, and I have a feeling George Russell will have a lot more to do with the story in this version judging from his last quizzical glance. Also there will be too much to enjoy with the Ada/Agnes dynamic and Jack's new business venture. Hoping they at least delve back into Armstrong's mother and the immigrant hovels of the time and that dynamic at play. And can't forget Marian and Larry. Lots to do and glad they will be doing it.

the storyline evolving the next day is a bit much

but visually as a history this show in amazing I'll allow the few inaccuracies the set design is awesome

and the Negro storyline is close to reality, interesting. if not sadly predictable it will be less and less accurate
