Went back to Houma to see some family this weekend, and went and ride around the marsh. Saw lots of teal and grey ducks.

They better bring their own water in SWLA

Rode the lease in Bayou Black on Saturday late morning time. Lots of teal and wood ducks. A few divers as well. Looks promising.

I saw a ton of them in Alberta two weeks ago
But seriously where I hunted in Alberta two weeks ago it was highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.
Since then the front that is hitting us today came through there a few says ago. Highs in the 20s and lows in the teens. Ducks should definitely be on the move.

Shite ton out on 15 East of Funroe. Fields are already looking legit and it is still a ways till opener. I imagine a few youths will be found beforehand just to get out in the field. Specks have to be getting thick up in Morehouse Parish but no confirmation on that.

Wish they would move their flyway 2.2 miles NW of Galion.

We got into several covies of Huns up there. What a beautiful bird and super fun to hunt. I want to go back up there and do it right with dogs etc.
I think Huns would become my favorite game bird if I had access to them.

Houma - Bayou Black area. Tons of pouldo. Most i've seen this early pretty much ever. Also had lots of blue wings and a couple flocks of ringers. Looks promising for sure.

do whistlers count?
Absolutely. I would take a limit of these over any other duck. Not even kidding. They are the best to eat hands down. Sad thing is the slightest hint of a front and they literally vanish. Must be their bat signal that real duck season is about to start cause there are bazillions during teal season. I guess they all congregate at the nearest golf course.
