We ended up being extremely happy with this series. No, it wasn't Band of Brothers and it had some shoehorned and contrived bits here and there, but they built up some great drama and stuck the landing.

If you didn't watch the Bloody Hundredth companion documentary that Apple suggests after the finale, I highly recommend it. Not a great doc by any means, but nice to see some of the real life pilots of the 100th and the Red Tails.

Really good series with solid ending. Definitely could have had one or two episodes more. But it worked.

My only issue to be honest is I felt they cheated the Red Tail pilots. It felt forced to include them in the manner they did not add more to their story. But that is just me.

Again overall really enjoyed it.

I think they were in a no-win situation there. They were about to do the third in a trilogy of series covering WWII, and the previous two series were completely focused on white soldiers. The fact that the 100th and the Red Tails intersected in that prison camp gave them an opportunity to feature black servicemen without having to completely manufacture an excuse to include them.

I feel like there's too much nostalgia when it comes to BOB. Because it was first and started airing 2 days before 9/11.

What? How so?

Have you watched it recently? It holds up extraordinarily well and is still an absolutely excellent series today.

Finished up MoA last night and they really did stick the landing pretty damn well. This has been a great series, and I will rewatch it for sure.

I liked it a good bit more then The Pacific.

The final episode was a lot better than most of the series. It was ok over all.

Nah, you can go back now and watch it and it's an amazing series. The actors were perfect, the story was amazing, the action was great, the FX were spot on. It just was a damn good series.

They end one of the episodes with Rosie Rosenthal being told the “bombers are gonna be the bait” and then proceeded to show exactly zero missions of that. D-Day is over in 1 minute of screen time. Lots of potential that they didn’t capitalize on.

This is exactly my problem with series, we seemingly gloss over the war and action set pieces for weird side stories. Going over budget and having to do other things makes sense.

I thought they spent way too much time on Harry’s love life. Just wasn’t very interesting at all.

It’s nitpicking, but the accents also annoyed me. Bucky Eagan and Curt Biddick were both from Wisconsin, but Eagan had a generic accent and Biddick sounded like he was from Brooklyn.

The worst part of the show. Should have died on the editing floor. It's interesting that these guys went over there and lived another life, but I don't think this show was the best place to tell those stories.

Bummed that I don't have a new episode to watch tonight. Maybe I can talk the wife into starting a weekly rewatch.

I went to the 8th AF museum in Savannah. Highly recommend.

Also recommend (again) Edward Jablonsk's book "Flying Fortress". I haven't read any of his other related books. Perhaps I should.

Just finished. The actual war scenes were pretty good. The dialogue scenes back at base or when someone was on leave were pretty weak.

7/10.

Nice, I’ve been wanting to visit Savannah for that. Thorpe Abbots would be a pretty neat place to visit as well.

I'm a little late to the party- ashamed to say that I am 8 episodes deep into Band of Brothers for the first time.

My wife and I visited Normandy last month and had an amazing tour of the beaches and small towns that the 101 and 82 Airborn units worked their way through. That lit the the fuse for us to finally start Band of Brothers. We plan to finish that series this week and then start Masters of the Air this weekend.
