When I was a kid these people didn’t exist in my town. Now they are all over the place. It’s crazy.

If you think Houston is bad, and I am Downtown there a few times a month, you should head out west. Bum camps are the new normal

Yeah, its way worse out west. In Portland and Sacramento for example there are endless camps for many miles outside the downtown areas. Drug laws and moderate climates attract them to these areas

The hard fact is that there are a lot of homeless in America. Also, it is much easier for homeless to scrape out a living in cities, where there is a concentration of people, services, places to sleep, food, etc. That is why there aren't many homeless in small towns, because you just can't find food or donations on any steady basis.

The idea that this is a Republican/Democrat issue is pure BS. Neither party has any idea or policy to solve or even reduce the problem. Neither party is even really studying the problem.

Until we have some sort of breakthrough insight, the homeless will continue to congregate in cities and will continue to hit you up for food and drugs.

My proposal is to create a fenced in area to dump these people in on cheap land outside of town. If ‘arrested’, they spend 90 days there. Jails are too overcrowded for these people. Has to be better than doing absolutely nothing.

Unfortunately it is not illegal to be free in the United States and that freedom includes living in publicly owned spaces. We could change that and make it illegal not to do exactly what the state dictates but that is not what America has ever been about. Why stop at 90 days? They are going to be homeless in 90 days. There has to be a final solution to deal with those the state deems undesirable. For some reason that sounds eerily familiar to something that I kind of remember hearing was bad but I could be wrong. What could possibly go wrong with the state labeling people undesirable and finding a final solution for the ills they cause? I am certain it has been done elsehwere and to everyone's satisfaction...

Take all of the money currently being spent on homeless programs and build a city in the desert away from everybody to house the homeless. Make everything free and legal, drugs, alcohol, etc so that they will stay. Provide daily food and other necessities. Bums are happy with free booze and drugs. Cities are happy to have them off the streets. Win-Win.

Maybe I’m sheltered, but I’ve been to stadiums and ball parks all across the country. Most are in vibrant areas with nightlife and safety a priority. Houston chooses to let theirs rot away with homelessness and the filth they bring. I wouldn’t be caught dead around Minute Maid, the Toyota Center, or Dynamo stadium at night. At least NRG is off the beaten path but there’s also zero around it to do.

CLEAN IT UP!!!!!

We need more asylums and mental institutions. These people need to be locked up and segregated from civilized society.

If not that, we need a vigilante to start “taking care” of the issue.

Rural people don’t want you to dump the problems city people created on them.

Yes.

Use the police to takeaway all their drugs.

Tear down their 'camps' (bidenville's).

Use the police to take their money, public asset forfeiture, they were committing crimes (illegal drug use and vagrancy).

Arrest the drug pushers and no bail for them.

This will cause many of these 'homeless' to relocate or become productive citizens.

Because dumbasses continue to give them money and food. As long as that happens they'll stick around. The homeless population in Lafayette keeps growing because the hipsters and soys keep the handouts coming.
