Gonna be there for 4 days. We are going to stay in Homestead or Florida City most likely. We plan to do all of the main little trails, but we'd like to get away from the crowds into a little bit of back country. I think we are going to snorkel in Key Biscayne the first day. We were thinking about doing an boat tour of some sort, and also kayak. Mainly want to see some cool wildlife.

If anyone has any tips for trails, rentals, food, breweries, etc I'd love to hear them. Thanks y'all!

Garl’s

Check out Garl’s. A few years back the wife and I went through them. It was a combo wet-walk and 2 Kayak trips.

Gators and Manatee up close. The hike was really cool. Let me know if interested and I’ll go into more detail

City Seafood in Everglades City. Big ole Florida gal will crack you open some stone crab claws while you wait. It's supposedly where most of the harvest comes through. Eat em on the dock with a cold beer.

I lived there for 9 years and worked for NPS at Big Cypress.
Lived on Chokoloskee Island. Go see Dave Shealy at Trail Lakes Campground. He'll be the barefoot guy wandering around.
He knows everything out there. His son has a little Kayak operation that explores the inside Backcountry real well.
Turner River Road is a great Day Drive in dry season...Thousands of birds , Gators and if you drive it at night look for real long snakes laying in the road..Real Long..as in 10 ft. plus.
Any more questions...ask away.

Good stuff man, looks like we'll have to tour Turner River Road at least one of the nights we are there.

We drove a stretch of Turner River Road one night we were there, but it was a chilly night, in the 50s, so no snakes. Did see an Alligator though. Beautiful area. Would love to spend a week around that area. We hiked the trail at the end of the gravel road at Fakahatchee SP. Didn't see too much besides some herons, but while I stopped to take a leak, my gf walked ahead of me and spooked a massive gator sunning on a bank. Both got spooked. It was a pretty hike.
