Purina just has good marketing. Read the ingredients. You wouldn’t touch Purina Pro Plan with a yardstick.

The brands vets recommend most are (in no particular order):

Eukanuba
Hills
Purina
Royal Canin

Do you know why? All of those sell prescription diets and vets almost always carry one of them, usually Hills or RC. Vets are also bombarded with Hills when they are in vet school, Hills spends a ton of money supporting programs in vet schools. Nothing wrong with it and all of them make solid foods and vets like to recommend foods they know and understand well. The last two vets we have had both recommended Diamond and Victor, the difference is they were also large animal vets and were exposed to them by the feed and seed stores they frequented.

Cool.

What do they feed their dogs?

Pick a food lower on corn. A little bit of tomato pomace. The end.

My dog eats what we eat. Maybe eats a bag of kirkland naturals every 2 months or so.

I know. And those brands are often sold by a vets. And the big DCM thing, and pushed by some. I stay away from the top brands with high percentages of DCM and no grain free or exotic protein. Some say it’s a farce. Idk.
