Probably not "anything" over 7 hours. I think sleep cycles for most people are about 100 minutes, so your 6.5 gets you to right about 400 minutes which is good. The next duration for you might be something like a bit over 8 hours.
The idea is you don't want to wake in the middle of a cycle. I think there's something to it.

I bet you eat a shite load of fat and carbs to make yourself comatose that long

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Retired and hardly ever get to bed before midnight. Then like clockwork I'm up at 3 to pee the first time and usually again around 5:30 and it's a crap shoot whether I'll go back to sleep or just get up and make the coffee.

i get 4-5 at night with a 1 hour nap late afternoon for a recharge.

Thats my general understanding as well. I thought it was closer to 90 minute sleep cycles but both figures are probably within a normal range.

I get about 7-8. Working from home certainly helps.

This is my problem. If i sleep until 4am I'm ecstatic. Last night it was 1:45am. Never went back to sleep. It sucks

I havent slept more than about 6 hours in years. Used to could though. I am like a chicken now, when the sun sets I am ready for bed and when it comes up I am ready to get up.

So you’re poor?

No need. Just hire a night nurse.

More than 8 I feel like shite.
Usually in bed around 9:30-10, up at 5

I wish I could sleep for 8-9 hours at a time. I sleep for 6-7 and wake up probably 2-3 times during that. Past 6-7 hours of sleep, I try and sleep more, but can't. I'm usually asleep by 10 and up at 4-4:30 before the alarm goes off at 5:15 every morning usually.
Just how my internal clock is wired I guess.

I'm baiting the hardcore 5 hours of sleep because they are the outliers OT fellers.
About half the time I'll sleep 5, about half the time I'll sleep 8 or so. There's no rhyme or reason to when I will do one or the other.

In bed by 8pm, awake at 4am without the use of an alarm clock most days. Consistency is the key as you age. Life can be boring at times, but man it sure is peaceful. The longer I live the more I realize life is a series of trade offs.
Are you saying life can be boring because you are so routine-based? Tell us more.
I too like the peace of a routine.

I'm about 5 a night but wish i could do 7-8. Sleeping disorder, hate taking daily meds and cannot stand being in bed and not going to sleep for hours. Plus i get a lot of stuff done late at night when the rest of the house is a sleep. Usually about once a month, i'll crash hard for 10 hours.
